AMCHITKA

Amchitka.png

6 x 1 hour (Drama miniseries)

In September 1971, at the height of the Cold War, twelve men set sail in an old halibut seiner up the west coast of Canada to Amchitka in the distant Aleutian Islands, to bear witness to the detonation of an American thermo-nuclear missile fifty times the size of the Hiroshima bomb.

Some of the protestors are ‘mystics’, others ‘mechanics’, some have families, others never will, but each person imperils their health, safety, and their sanity for the sake of world peace and the environment. Together, they fail, but give birth to Greenpeace.
